Automotive hub bearings used to be most commonly paired with single-row tapered roller or ball bearings. With the development of technology, the car has been widely used in the car hub unit. The range and usage of hub bearing units are increasing and have now developed into the third generation: the first generation consists of double row angular contact bearings. The second generation has a Flange on the outer raceway to hold the bearing in place, which can be simply sheathed to the axle and held in place with a nut. Make it easy to repair cars. The third generation hub bearing unit is equipped with a bearing unit and ABS ANTI-LOCK BRAKE system. The hub unit is designed with an inner flange and an outer Flange, the inner flange is bolted to the drive shaft, and the outer flange holds the entire bearing together. Worn or damaged hub bearings or hub units can cause inappropriate and costly failure of your vehicle on the road and even harm to your safety. Please pay attention to the following matters in the use and installation of hub bearing: 1. In order to ensure the maximum safety and reliability, it is recommended that you inspect the hub bearing regularly, no matter how old it is, for early warning signs of bearing wear, including any frictional noise during rotation or abnormal deceleration of the suspension assembly during cornering. For Rear Wheel drive vehicles it is recommended to lubricate the front hub bearing at 38,000 km. When replacing the brake system, check the bearings and replace the oil seals. 2. If you hear a noise coming from the hub bearing, first of all, it is important to locate where the noise is coming from. There are many moving parts that may produce noise, or there may be some rotating parts in contact with non-rotating parts. If it is confirmed to be noise in the bearing, the bearing may be damaged and need to be replaced. 3. Even if only one bearing is broken, it is recommended to replace it in pairs because the front hub has similar working conditions that cause bearing failure on both sides. 4. Hub bearings are sensitive and require the right methods and tools in all cases. During storage, transportation and installation, the bearing parts must not be damaged. Some bearings require greater pressure to be pressed in, so special tools are needed. Always refer to the automobile manufacturing manual. 5, the installation of bearings should be in a clean and tidy environment, small particles into the bearing will also shorten the service life of the bearing. It is important to maintain a clean environment when changing bearings. Do not use a hammer to strike the bearing. Do not drop the bearing on the floor (or similar mishandling) . The condition of the shaft and housing should also be checked prior to installation. Even minor wear can lead to poor fit and early bearing failure. 6. For the hub bearing unit, do not attempt to open the hub bearing or adjust the seal ring of the hub unit, otherwise the seal ring will be damaged and water or dust will enter. Even the raceway of the seal ring and inner ring are damaged, resulting in permanent failure of the bearing. 7. The seal ring with the ABS bearing has a magnetic thrust ring that is not subject to impact, impact, or other magnetic fields. Remove them from the box before installation, away from the magnetic field, such as the motor or power tool used. When installing these bearings, change the operation of the bearings by observing the ABS warning pin on the dashboard during road testing. 8. Hub bearings with ABS magnetic thrust rings. To determine which side of the wheel the thrust ring is mounted on, Use a light object * near the edge of the bearing, where the magnetic force generated by the bearing will attract it. One side of the magnetic thrust ring is pointed inward to face the sensing element of ABS. Note: Incorrect Installation may cause the brake system to fail. 9. Many bearings are hermetically sealed and do not require grease for their entire life. Other unsealed bearings, such as double row tapered roller bearings, must be greased during installation. Because of the bearing cavity size, it is difficult to determine how much grease, the most important thing is to ensure that there is grease in the bearing, if too much grease, when the bearing rotation, the excess grease will leak out. General experience: In the installation, the total amount of grease to account for 50% of the bearing clearance. 10, the installation of lock nuts due to the bearing type and bearing seat, the size of the torque varies greatly.
